Varicose
Vein
- An
abnormal swelling and tortuosity especially of the
superficial veins of the legs.
Veins - The
vessels carrying blood toward the heart. Veins (with
the exception of the pulmonary vein) carry dark,
red (unaerated) blood from other parts of the body
to the heart.
Vena Cava, Inferior
- The principal vein that receives the blood
from the lower limbs pelvic area abdomen and returns
that blood to the right atrium of the heart.
Vena Cava, Superior
- The principal vein that returns blood from
the head and neck, upper limbs, and chest back into
the right atrium of the heart.
Ventricle - The
paired (right and left) more muscular chambers of
the heart that pump blood into the pulmonary (right
ventricle) and systemic (left ventricle) circulation.
Vessel - Canal,
duct or tube that conveys the fluids of the body.
Viral Myocarditis
- Inflammation of the heart muscle that is caused
by an infection with a virus. Coxsackie B is most
common in the U.S.A., but Coxsackie A, influenza,
rubeola, rubella, Adenovirus, HIV and echoviruses
can all cause myocarditis.
